Hello Delaney Families, 

We had a very successful move up day today and are all looking forward to returning in September for the 2013-2014 school year.  Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the school year.  Your generosity and dedication to the Wrentham Schools are truly amazing. 

This will be the final installment of the Delaney blog for the 2012-2013 school year.  Please feel free to sign up for automatic updates or check back in periodically throughout the summer to find out what's happening.

Congratulations to Ryan Z. for winning the Positive Referral raffle. Ryan was awarded a $50 gift card to Target donated by the Wrentham Teachers' Association. 

                                                   
Congratulations and good luck to Mrs. Cindy Jones, Delaney School music teacher.  Mrs. Jones is retiring after 19 years of service to the children of Wrentham.  We thank her and wish her to best of luck in her future endeavors.

Spirit Day Update

At the WPS Spirit Day held on June 7th, the students and staff contributed 1753 pounds of much needed food, which will assist the Wrentham Food Pantry through the lean summer months.

The entirely volunteer run WFP has operated out of The Whiston House since 1987, and have been the recipients of donations from community organizations, like The WPS, from the beginning. The WFP could not do what they do if not for all of your contributions! Thank you so much for supporting them through our Spirit Day initiatives.

                                                                       

A huge thank you to June Wooding, owner of Fanautical; an amazing clothing store at Patriot's Place! On Friday, June 14th, Fanautical joined forces with the Wrentham PTO to raise money for the Sweatt Field Community Playground. After a fashion show starring Wrentham students and staff, any purchases made before the end of the month in which the Wrentham PTO is referenced will generate 15% in proceeds. Thank you to Lisa Munn, Heidi Neipris, and Alisa West for their efforts and again, thank you to June and Louie for their generosity!

Online ordering for the school supply programs starts tomorrow. Parents will have the option to customize their orders using teacher specific lists. Also all item will be delivered to your home for free and can be ordered up to 3 weeks before the start of school. June 14th

Hello Delaney Families,

It's hard to believe that this is our final Friday of the 2012-2013 school year! Where did the time go?

Please enjoy this week's blog of the kids both working and playing hard. 

                                                              

On Tuesday, June 11th, second grader Sally Gould, acted as "Principal for the Day" after winning the SWISH raffle last week.  Ms. Gould handed out 135 birthday pencils to students who celebrate their birthdays during the summer, recognized the kids who received Positive Referrals this week, supervised the 3rd graders who had lunch in the Roderick School, and rewarded her classmates with an extra recess at the end of the day. 

Students in grades K-5 gathered in the Gibbons Gym to kick-off the 2013-2104 2nd annual Summer Reading Olympics program.  Be on the look out for information coming home with your child on the last day of school.

Field Day
After a total rain-out on Friday, we had an outstanding field day on Monday.  Thanks to Mr. Moon and Mr. Maguire for organizing all the events and thanks to all the staff members who made this day a great success. It was great seeing so many parents and special guests with us as well.

Positive Referrals!

Congratulations to the following students for being recognized for their outstanding choices and behavior this week. Mary Conniff and Mikayla Thompson also received positive referrals for being helpful, mindful, and kind.

Positive Referral Breakfast

Move-up day will be held on Thursday, June 20th.  Children will spend 15 minutes in their new teacher's classroom, get a chance to meet their new classmates, and hear a little about what's to come in September.

Thursday, June 20th is the last day of school.  Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.  On behalf of the entire Delaney School staff, I would like to wish you and your family and safe and happy summer vacation!

June 7th

Hello Delaney Families,

Unfortunately we had to cancel Field Day today due to the inclement weather.  We are planning on having Field Day on Monday, June 10th (weather permitting).  

Thank you to all of our families who donated items for our Term 4 Spirit Day Food Drive.  There was a plethora of food donated during the three day collection.  Thank you to our PTO for assisting in this wonderful cause. 

Thank you to everyone who supported the annual S.W.I.S.H. (Students With Illness Score Help) basketball game this past Wednesday.  The staff was ready and focused this year and pulled out a victory.  Way to go, Teachers!  Special thanks to event organizer, Mrs. Moon.  Additionally, all of us at the Wrentham Public Schools would like to thank Chief Anderson and members of the Wrentham Police Department for participating in the game.

Students in Mr. Hughes' class researched famous Massachusetts citizens and then wrote biographies and created Power Points. Parents were invited in to a wax museum on Wednesday where each student dressed in costume and brought an artifact from his or her person's life. Students then presented the Power Point he or she made. A great and informative time was had by all!
