March 1, 2013

Greetings Delaney Families,
It's been another busy week at the Delaney School! This week marked the start of morning announcements in which two third grade students begin each day sharing their names, the date, birthday wishes to those celebrating their birthdays, and the Pledge of Allegiance.  Mr. Hughes' students were the first volunteers and have done an magnificent job!

Dr. Seuss Day!
The Delaney School celebrated Dr. Seuss Day on Friday, March 1st.  We were fortunate to have many guest readers visit our classrooms.  Thank you to each and every one of them.  Also, I would like to thank Roderick Librarian, Mrs. Panchuk, for organizing all of our special guests.

These First Grade students worked together to complete a Horton Hears A Who puzzle.

Teachers Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Swartzendruber

Principals' Coffee
Please note that there has been a change in the date for the next Principals' Coffee.  The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 14th at 8:30 a.m. in the Vogel Auditorium. The topic of discussion will be the student placement process and will include information on the parental input letter (i.e. what to include, due dates, etc...).  We hope to see you there!

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration will be held on Thursday, March 8th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Vogel Auditorium.  The registration packet is available online and should be filled out and brought along with your child's birth certification, proof of residency, and most recent immunizations.  Parents will need to choose between half-day, transitional, or full-day kindergarten at the time of registration and will also be giving a appointment for Kindergarten Screening on June 14, 2013.

School Council
The next School Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 3:00 p.m. in the Roderick School office.  All are welcome!

Mark your Calendars!
There will be no school for students on Friday, March 15th.  Teachers will be involved in a Professional Development Day.
In addition, school will be closed on Friday, March 29th.

Thank you for reading.
Enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,
Melissa D. Peterson
