Week 33 (5/5-5/9)

Greetings Delaney Families,

I'm happy to report that with exception of a couple of make-up tests that still need to be taken, our third graders successfully completed the mathematics portion of the MCAS this week.  They worked extremely hard showing outstanding perseverance over the two day testing period. We are incredibly proud of their efforts.  Great job boys and girls!

Next week, students in Mrs. Sabatini and Ms. Shaw's classes will participate in a PARCC pilot test.  The students will be working on the end of the year mathematics online assessment.

Happy Teacher Appreciation week to all of our amazing staff members!

Happy Nurse's Appreciation week to Mrs. Cashman and Mrs. Richardson!

On Thursday, Mrs. Nunes' kindergarten class visited the Fiske Library.  Miss Liz read them several stories and together they sang many songs. In addition, most of the children received their own library card.  Thanks to all at the Fiske for a great day!

Delaney Principal Search Update
On Wednesday night, members of the search committee selected 7 candidates to interview for the Delaney School principal opening.  The search committee will be looking to select 3 finalists.  Dr. Martes will appoint the next Delaney School principal.

On Thursday, May 15th, art work by students in K-3 will be showcased in the Delaney Cafeteria from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  The kids have been working on these projects for the past five months and have created some wonderful pieces.  We hope to see you there!

Moms in Mrs. Ahern's preschool were treated to a fabulous Mother's Day celebration this week.  We thank these three and all of our amazing mothers!

The next School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 13th in the Delaney Teachers' Room at 3:00 p.m.  All are welcome!

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Next Friday, May 16 is the annual lunch.  Thank you to those that have sent in your contribution of $1 per student, $3 per family.  Please continue to send in your contributions to help defray the cost of this much appreciated event. We are asking for cookies and brownies to use as dessert items.  If you can make something, please e-mail us at wrenthampto@gmail.com.  The items need to be brought to the school offices by 10:00 AM on the 16th. If you would like to volunteer to help next Friday, we would love to have you on board!

Spring Clean Up Day

The official clean up day was last Saturday, May 3.  We had teams of local professional landscapers come and donate an entire day of their time.  Green Trees Arborcare did a tremendous amount of work removing unsafe trees around the bus circle.  Natural Tree brought in mulch for our flower beds.  You may have noticed we still have mulch around the school.  We need volunteers to help next Sat., May 17th to help finish the job. A list of duties will be sent out through the school email blast.

Delaney Art Show, Grades K-3

The art show is next Thursday, May 15th from 5-6:30 PM in the Delaney Cafeteria.  Mrs. Lovely is still in need of volunteers to help set up the Art show on Thursday morning and clean up after.  Please e-mail her at:  lovely@wrentham.k12.ma.us

Final PTO Meeting

Our final PTO meeting for the year is next Thursday, May 15 at 7 PM in the Delaney Staff Lounge.  We will be electing new Board members.

Did You Know?  Interesting facts from the PTO...

  • Our school earned over 1 million points from the Big Y Education program.  With those points we were able to order items for the music, art and health departments. The PE department received some new equipment for the gym show. Thank you for registering your Big Y cards and shopping there during this promotion.
  • We earned over $2,600 this school year from Box Tops collections!  This amounts to 26,000 Box Tops clipped from parents and supporters of our school!  The $.10 Box Tops do add up! Keep clipping!

On behalf of the entire Delaney School staff, Happy Mother's Day!  Enjoy!

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Melissa D. Peterson, Principal
